2,600 acers, along the South bank of the llano river, along the southwestern edge of the Texas hill country, lies South llano river state park. This park offers 2 miles of river frontage, with multiple put in and take out points for tubes and kayaks, both of which are available for rent near the park. There are over 22 miles of hiking and mountain bike trails over steep ridges, across muddy river bottoms, and through wooded terrain. enjoy one of 4 public bird blinds for bird watching, in one of the largest turkey roost in central Texas. Full hook up, and primitive camp sites are available, with facilities nearby. Fishing is available in the river, without the need for a state fishing license, and rods and tackle can be rented from the front office. South llano river state park is also a recognized international dark sky park for all you star gazers.
