Under Bed Struts
The Bushwhacker trailer has shallow storage under the bed, that give a lot of space to store some camp essentials. If you upgrade the mattress, accessing that storage can be tough. Adding gas struts makes it much easier.
Installing the struts is pretty simple. You will need to notch out the wood support running across the middle of storage space, to allow the strut to lay flat when the lid is down.
Screw in the base of the strut into the center support, a few inches in from the back of the storage space.
Attach the strut by popping it into the ball on the base.
Attach the base to the ball on top of the strut, and hold it up against the open lid to decide where you want it to attach.
I did mine with the strut extended about 80% of the way
MAke sure it lines up with the notch you made in the cross support, and screw it in.
I screwed down a scrap piece of nylon webbing as a handle, to help open the lid.
