Mods BW - Cabinet Shelves

Cabinet Shelves

The Bushwacker trailer includes to cabinets inside, that provide ample storage space for clothing, bags, blankets ect. The cabinets are tall, and stacking items on top of each other to fill the space can be cumbersome. I decided having a shelf to divide the space would allow us to make better use of the cabinets. This was an inexpensive, relativity easy modification to make.

First off, i measured how high up i wanted the shelves, and made a mark with a pencil . Make marks on both sides of the cabinet, the same distance so the shelf will be level.

Next, i took a rubbermaid shelf, in organic ash, and cut it to length. Holding the shelf in place, use a pencil to roughly outline the location of the latch, and cut it out with a jigsaw.

Now, take a 1/4" drill bit and drill two holes along the line we drew in pencil. One hold toward the front, and one toward the rear. I used a piece of masking tape on the drill bit to prevent accidentally drilling to far. Don't want any holes going through the trailer!

Once the holes are drilled, pop in the angle shelf supports. two on each side of the cabinet.

Now its time to place the shelf in. You'll have to angle it, above the supports, and lay it in. Once inserted, the shelf should fit snugly against the supports, holding them from coming out. Enjoy the increased storage space!
