Inks lake was the second lake formed in a series of dams built to tame the mighty Colorado river. The park sits on 12000 acres, which on which construction began in 1940 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The park is only a short drive from Longhorn Cavern State Park, so be sure to check it out before you leave the area!
Inks lake enjoys a fairly constant water level, so swimming, boating, and fishing are available year round. paddle boats, canoes and kayaks are available for rent by the hour, and can be safely enjoy them in the no wake zone. The lake offers 2 fishing piers, a boat ramp and fish cleaning station. There is 9 miles of hiking trails that take you over rocky hills and shady forest, and you can camp in nearly 200 campsites, many of which are lake side, or stay in one of 22 cabins. The park also has an awesome general store stocked with food, supplies and camping gear, and even score Kona Ice in the summer.
