Lubbock Texas is home to a series of lakes, through the eastern side of town, called the Canyon lake system. Toward the end of this line of ponds, is lake number 6, Dunbar Historical Lake. The 268 acre lake is a popular spot in the warmer months with the park offering plenty to do from walking the road around the parameter of the lake, a disc golf course, miles of mountain bike trials, and best of all, Fishing! The lake holds some really nice fish for being a pond in the busy city. Catfish, large mouth bass and crappie are abundant and can be caught in the variety of structure and vegetation surrounding the lake. Boats and kayaks are allowed with electric motors only, and will allow you to reach some areas not accessible from shore. The lake is relatively shallow, with a maximum depth, according to my fish finder, of around 12 ft. The deepest area being along the dam on the east end of the lake.
