
Cedar Hill State Park sits on the eastern shore of Joe Pool Lake in Cedar Hill, Texas. Acquired in 1982, the 1,826 acre park was opened in 1991.
The park is home to over 200 species of birds as well as a variety of fish in Joe Pool lake. There are 2 lighted jetties as well as a perch pond for kids. Boaters will enjoy two, four lane boat ramps with lighted boat trailer parking. As with all Texas state parks, a fishing license is not required to fish inside the park. Swimming is also allowed in the lake, and in the swimming beach complete with picnic tables, playground and restrooms nearby. Hiking and biking is welcome on the DORBA (Dallas Off Road Biking Association) trail that crisscrosses 1,200 acres through the park. Trails are closed when wet*
The park is also home to the Penn Farm Agricultural History Center. The Penn family have lived and worked here for over a century. Self guided tours are available.
The park has 350 campsites, all near restrooms with hot showers. All sites have electric and water with 150 of the sites having sewer hookups. Several sites are ADA accessible.
